There is a Chinese saying:

“Life, and death, can be as light as a feather, and as heavy as a mountain.”

Thousands of plain, white feathers, each dipped in pine tar and wiped dry, are suspended from the ceiling, forming a cascading screen. The artist sits in front of the backdrop of tarred feathers, and performs an ongoing action of sewing tarnished feathers onto her white garment. Light as A Feather looks at the unfathomable loss and suffering of the growing numbers of displaced population. Underlying The performed act is a desire to transform feminine labor into a redemptive and healing process.
